It’s hard to articulate why I enjoyed this book so much. Perhaps it was listening to the author read his own words through the audiobook.
I really enjoyed it. Very evocative of a single place in time and extremely reflective and introspective. Love

I felt the loss so intensely, I had to take time to recover as I read the 2nd half. "Stay True" will stay in my head forever now.
Graphic: Death, Grief
Moderate: Gun violence
Minor: Hate crime, Racism, Suicidal thoughts, Xenophobia, Police brutality
This felt like being at a sleepover with a friend, during those moments when you two stay up way too late and share some of the most vulnerable and intimate moments of yourselves.

This memoir wasn't quite what I expected, all the musical references went over my head, but I loved all the parts about Ken. You learn about him, then you learn what it's like to lose him. We see him through Hua's lens, which is one of love and friendship, as he commits to paper all that he can remember about their moments together. There is a reverence towards Ken, and through this book his memory is kept alive. It's fucked up the way it is sometimes.

Nostalgic, poetic, haunting, and joyous. Beautifully done.
