Melancholy and sweet historical fantasy romance between a grief-stricken prickly witch and a lonely cowboy. Loved that both MCs are trans and bi, and the worldbuilding was impressive considering the short length.
Content notes: gun violence, grief, mild gore, on page sex, family estrangement
Content notes:
Moderate: Grief and Gun violence
Minor: Gore

austin chant is always so reliably lovely
this is a romance set in the wild west between a cowboy and witch who is basically winry rockbell
(i mean not personality wise but she essentially goes around making automail for people so you feel me)
i was very very into the way rob spent this novella quietly adoring cecily. it's a very sweet well developed romance which is like the embodiment of true love as finding someone you can be alone with

Gothy? Yes. Cis? Hell no. I am so happy for stories that center trans voices especially OWNVOICES ones because they bring this little heart to tears. My review is more eloquent.

4,5 stars!
Oh I quite loved this! It was an addicting read, something I haven’t had for a little while, and such a nice setting even though the book is so short. I found the romance just sliiightly underdeveloped (not the relationship cause that was wonderful, just the romance itself), so I’m knocking half a star off for that. Otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed it!
