This was such a beautiful novella. The writing was dreamy and unique, with a third person present tense, something I'm not sure I've read before. The story tugged at my heartstrings, with Cecily desperate to resurrect her dead lover and realizing it can't be done. Roy was an absolute sweetheart and I loved how shy and lovestruck he was. And it was great to see a romance where both protagonists are trans. Ah Austin Chant, you did it again.

Ok, I loved this.
A quiet cowboy, a prickly witch. Historical and fantasy elements. Witchcraft and cozy houses they teleport to. Crafting and mending and enchantments to help the public.
So casually queer, so tender and sweet at times, also the casual transness throughout this is *chefs kiss. Also the new cover is so gooood.
Love. Yeehaw
CWs: death of loved one (partner), body horror, gunshot wound, body dysphoria

I dont think five stars are enough.
This book felt so intimate, so personal, it was like someone wrote it for my eyes only. It was everything i needed without knowing it. I ugly cried at least twice.
Everything was so just... i dont know, right ? Watching the plot unfurl was like watching cog wheels perfectly turning together.
Even the last scene (no spoiler), things are never treated like they were here, and i didnt expect it, and in a way it BROKE me and it was perfect.
Thank you thank YOU, Austin Chant.

Once again, Austin Chant delivers a story as sweet and as warm as coming home after a long day. I was a little worried about how well it would build because it was so short, but the timing was perfect. I wish it were three times as long, just so I could stay just a little longer in the cozy home that was the relationship between these two. A really good novella, a perfect little read if you just need something comforting.
