for starters, there is no reason for this book to be 500 pages. it took me until the half way point to get completely invested so I’m thinking we could have covered everything we covered in about 375-400 pages. I felt like a lot of this book was very repetitive and that’s a big reason for my lower rating.
that cliffhanger though was 🤬. regardless of the length of this book i’m invested enough to continue because HOW ARE WE GOING TO COME BACK FROM THIS ISAIAH?!?
I did feel like a lot of the info we got was very vague, like you can piece together what’s going on but I also feel like we just glossed over what’s going on with both Gemma & Isaiah.
now vague or not I got the ick with everything involving Gemma & her “uncle” 🤢 and I know we’re not done with that story and that makes me nervous to what else we’ll find out.
hopefully we dive more into Isaiah’s story in the next book because I know we’ve only scratched the surface.

Slow

This book dragged. Like, I put it down to read four other books before I finished it. I wanted to love it, but it just didn't do it for me. However, I will be trudging my way through the second one, because you don't read 500 pages of nothing only to end on a cliffhanger. Hopefully things will pick up a little.

So So Good

Isaiah and Gemma- so spicy, so precious, and TRUE Soulmates. I am obsessed. I absolutely adore this book and can not wait for the second one. My heart is tugged with sweet innocent Gemma and the pure side of Isaiah’s heart. I feel for her and hope the second book doesn’t shatter my heart. Isaiah is the sweetest soul and I love how he loves. Protective and Possessive! come on Book 2! I looked up bully romance high school and this perfectly fit the bill!!

This duet was riveting, edgy, deep, angsty, suspenseful & complex. Dark themes with a hell of a lot of love. I went into this duet blind and it completely blew me away.

The depth of the characters and the story was simply amazing! It was a slow-burn and so much angst to dive deep to learn about each MC. Isaiah and Gemma's stories were told through dual POV which really opened your eyes to the characters thoughts, feelings & emotions.

I don't want to give too much away without spoilers. This is just a must read!

Isaiah and Gemma grew up very, very differently yet had similar pasts. Isaiah the bad boy. Gemma the good girl. Attending the same boarding school brought them together. The complexity of their relationship lies deep within themselves and each other and is so so much more than being two teenagers attending school.

Saint Mary’s is a boarding school for those with a purpose & loads of secrets. You can’t really trust anyone and you have to expect the unexpected. Gemma is your typical good girl who doesn’t go against the rules & always wants to please people because of how she was raised. I have to say I’m super excited to see how she develops in the next book! Isiah is your bad boy anti hero we all love to hate w/ a sweeter side that I loved getting to see. He’s bad bot without acting like a total douche which is just amazing. He was sent to St Mary’s by his father & of course he’s keeping some major secrets. Gemma & Isiah have such a strong connection right off the bat. I loved getting to see their feelings develop & the struggles of what’s to come gets laid out. When both their secrets start to come out no matter how hard they try to keep them quiet, their relationship & trust with each other is tested.

I can’t wait to see how this duet ends in the next book! There is a cliffhanger but man oh man does it get you excited for what’s to come! This book does have more world-building & plot set up so it did start off a tad slower then I would have liked. However, I think the second book is gonna packs punch!
