Listen, I should've known not to trust tiktok book recommendations and not to fall for a smutty possesive older guy romance.
There is a pretty good one star review on goodreads that sums up all my issues with it as well. The little lamb /wolf thing was just not it, the military patriotism, the frankly unhealthy relationship the two have, the fact that they basically get into bdsm stuff without any proper talk beforehand, the romanticization of his insanely possessive he is, it is just wild. The end???? like, what??? I'm just not impressed I suppose. It feels like a military/mafia AU of fifty shades tbh.

Brothers best friend romance, hello, I am here for it.

Let me start with the two things that low-key annoyed me about the book so I can move on.

First, a majority of this book is the FMC fighting her feelings about the MMC because she feels that he should be with someone else because of certain events that are revealed while reading. It almost felt like some miscommunication but she’s purposefully not telling him because of trauma, ya know? But after a while, I was just kind of at the point where I needed them to talk and I needed her to start to put some trust into this man because it was way up until the end. Like she does trust him with her life but it’s her feelings she’s struggling with. There was a lot of dancing around the main issue so it got repetitive.

The next thing that I wanna bring up, to be honest, didn’t bother me as much but I know some people might get the ick so I wanna bring it up. While our girly is 18 when she loses her virginity to Dante, we find out that he did start to think of her in more than a friend way when she was 17. Now, they’ve grown up together because he’s best friends with her brothers; however, he’s 4-5 years older than her (if I remember right). So, homie was grown when he started having feelings while she was still 17. I don’t think it bothered me as much because she had grown up with him for YEARS prior to this when he was a kid as well but I know some won’t be a fan of it so I wanted to bring it up.

Now, I loved how protective this man was of her. I mean we get a couple scenes where he interrupts her with other men and I love to see it. He’s also the type to kill for her…literally lol.

The smut was fun and I wish there was more. Honestly, the whole plot could have just been ditched and I would’ve read it.

Speaking of plot, I do have another complaint. There’s this whole plot scene about 75% of the way through the book that the book was slowly building to (organized crime) and it just kinda felt rushed. Like, obviously the main point of the book is the relationship between our two main characters and not this whole organized crime plot but still. I felt that it shouldn’t have been wrapped up so quickly.

Now I know I was talking about things I didn’t like but I did enjoy this book! While I did enjoy I still think it was lacking in certain areas. Will I read the next book about her twin? Absolutely, I’m intrigued and this was super easy to read.

If you’re looking for a book that has a perfectionist FMC who is a “goody goody” but is also dealing with mental health problems as well as a MMC who is connected with the mob and government and would kill anyone who touches his girl, then this might be one to try.

Please make sure to look up the CW/TW on this book.

This was my first time reading a mafia romance book and I have mixed feelings because it was like nothing I've ever read before. The amount of chaotic energy within the characters had me either laughing, sad or just flabbergasted. I loved that it had a HEA

Wow. Just wow. Um, I guess I’m not giving a higher rating only because I feel like I’ve been reading higher quality books in general recently but really the writing was good, the characters were incredibly magnetic, and the sex scenes were imaginative. This book is easily the spiciest book I’ve ever read and maybe when I’m done being shocked by some of the kink scenes I will want to rate it higher.
