This is the first book I have read by Skye Warren, but I have always been tempted, especially with the Chicago Underground series' blurbs. This book can be read as a standalone, and I did myself, so I can confirm that you will still love and understand it fully, though you will find yourself questioning how you stayed away so long and what you are going to do with your newfound Skye Warren addiction.

This book was brilliant. Absolutely drop dead gorgeous, steaming hot, full of angst brilliance. I really enjoyed every page of it, and found it beyond hard to put down. Once I finished, I rushed off to grab the rest of the series because I needed more.

The characters are created so extraordinarily well. Each one is given the detail and personality needed to really being both themselves and this story to life. It was a very grounded, real read and needed characters that were able to be just that. Each was believable and true, so that you were able to connect with them and grow to love of hate them.

The mains were brilliant. They really brought the story together and created just the spark that was needed to really make this book one that I couldn't put down. They were made for each other, even if they didn't want it or didn't know it. From the beginning you could feel the tension and attraction rising between them and wanted to see it happen.

I loved the pace of the book, as it really matched the storyline. It gave way to passion and tense action moments, where we were able to have that pushed by adrenaline feeling. I liked that and though it really added to the attractiveness of the read.

Overall, I thought this was excellent. As mentioned, I have now gone on to grab more from this author and will continue to do so. I recommend giving the series a go, this book in particular.

**I received this book for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 stars.

This book was so unexpected. It was dark and the plot was complicated. So much going on but not in a way that makes anything over shadowed. Phillip was alpha too his core and sometimes a little too forceful for me but a sexy alpha non the less. Will definitely be reading more of this author

Phillip and Ella's story was chaotic and frantic. But it was also addictive and forgiving.
This story was beautifully written!

I loved Phillip and Ella's story. Both desperate for the one thing they don't have, family. Ella should have been loved by the couple that adopted her but instead she was left feeling like she was never good enough. Phillip's abuse by his father and then the death of his mother shattered his childhood and he felt he needed to push everyone away to protect them. They are very different and yet very similar.

Phew what a ride!!
Deep is definitely a journey! It is also the first book I have ever read by Skye Warren, and I was def. not disappointed!

The book is written in first person perspective and told by Ella. It had kind of a ...haunting feel to it. The story telling is very fluent, but also very beautiful in a horrible sort of way at times.
Like I said, it's haunting. The author definitely has a way with words and everything is flowing nicely throughout. The character development is amazing and I love how she gives us so much information, without really giving it. There are a lot of "between the lines" but the fact that I could see that and understand it, shows the author is a talented writer.

I was never bored in this book and our dear Alphahole and Underworld boss, Phillip was at times quite scary. Def. a man you didn't want as an enemy!

The book is stand alone, so I haven't read any of the other books in the series, but I do think it would be a good idea to do so, because I kind of slightly feel like there is history in the shadows that I would know more about had I read the other books.

This was a strong 5* for me, I could not put this book down!

That was hot!

I loved reading Phillip and Ella's story. I loved that it was not all sunshine and roses. It was gritty, it was ugly and it was messy. When you fall in love with a crime boss when you are so young it is not appropriate it is a struggle. Phillip stayed far enough away to protect but not claim Ella but there was no question who owned her. I liked the development of the characters and the storyline. My heart is happy with the ending...would recommend this book and series!

This was pretty amazing. Now since I started this series by reading the very last book, I can tell you that this can be read as a stand alone, though I wouldn't recommend it as there are moments here and there when you'll be wondering how on Earth Ellie knew quite as much as she did or as many people as she did in Philip's vicinity.

That aside, it's a very good read, with a likeable heroine that you can relate to in her quest to be known to the world around her and somehow be accepted by her family. Haven't we all been there? Philip is very much different from her and at the same time very similar. They both have shields to protect them from the world and they are both attracted to each other to the point that they would sacrifice the world for the other. And that makes it good.

Another good point? Unlike some other attempts at a dark story, Ellie doesn't turn Phillip into a bag of mush. The man remains quintessentially the same throughout their interactions, though he does become softer in places as he hardens Ellie in other places. It was believable and gut wrenching. It was enjoyable. Gets a definitive recommendation from me, though I would probably recommend starting with the first book.

I absolutely loved the first 64% of this, but then the hero forced the heroine to have unprotected sex despite her saying no and trying to get away. That crossed a line for me and turned him from just an alphahole to utter trash, and I struggled to care about the last 1/3 of the book.
