I liked this one better than the first in the series, but there were also a lot of parts that were hard for me to get through.
Through them discussing the last days of Beck and her funeral and the feelings immediately after her death, I was reliving my own grief after losing someone to cancer, which was hard. I felt like the book handled it in a good way though. I’m still not sure which of the summer boys I think is a good fit for Belly, but Jenny Han definitely knows how to write a trilogy that keeps you coming back for more.

This is getting a 3.5 stars for Conrad being a prick pretty much the entire book except for like three chapters in cousins. And the ending is really confusing to me. I used to think I was a team Conrad girlie but …… bro you suck so bad and can’t treat a women right. Always the good looking guys smh. The only good characters in this whole story are laurel and Jeremiah and then there’s Stephen who’s just kinda not present the whole thing. If I could marry laurel I would.

A Summer Without You. A Summer Without Susannah

This was definitely not as much about the romance, the angst and wanting as the first book, but it was still monumental. I cried so much. I just want Belly to be happy, but I also want some answers about Conrad. Why did he treat her like that and get away with never apologizing?

Didn’t hit the same as the original, but doesn’t every sequel? Absolutely digged the darker plot of this one, with everything about the house and Susannah being heart wrenching and a must read plot. Twists and turns left me feeling all the feels. The ending gutted me but alas.
