I liked this one better than the first in the series, but there were also a lot of parts that were hard for me to get through.
Through them discussing the last days of Beck and her funeral and the feelings immediately after her death, I was reliving my own grief after losing someone to cancer, which was hard. I felt like the book handled it in a good way though. I’m still not sure which of the summer boys I think is a good fit for Belly, but Jenny Han definitely knows how to write a trilogy that keeps you coming back for more.

This is like the New Moon of this series—the super sad, fraught, emo part of the story and honestly, I was here for it. Again, Lola Tung’s narration is fantastic and adds so much to the story.

much better than the first one. i liked the addition of jeremiah’s pov but it seemed also kinda short and forced? i would’ve liked some elaboration in his perspective. it’s the same cheesy writing with a messy plot. the “flashback memories” were thrown in randomly and made for a confusing story, although i see the authors idea. everything always feels rushed, like why was the main point of the story introduced and solved in 3 chapters? only one more to go, although im kinda interested in what will happen in this love triangle. also i miss steven slightly. at least i was able to read it in 4 hours.

A Summer Without You. A Summer Without Susannah

This was definitely not as much about the romance, the angst and wanting as the first book, but it was still monumental. I cried so much. I just want Belly to be happy, but I also want some answers about Conrad. Why did he treat her like that and get away with never apologizing?
