Man, I have never had a book pull me in and devastate much like this book. By Chapter 8, I had already cried 3 times, and I felt so many feelings about the event that happened to Conor, Jake, Jarret, and Loren. One night changed their lives forever. I loved the book, but as soon as the time jumped, it started to throw me off. I had issues for some reason why Jake thought  in 2 weeks he could fix years of trauma to Conor. How quickly she would move past a triggered moment sometimes felt not believable. I then felt like it all got rushed and hurried. I love all these characters, and maybe now this is a series it will all even put it, but a good book is not my favorite of Pam's but still dark and naughty.

Sometimes Pam Godwin’s books are a hit and miss for me. I have been dying to read this series from when this one released but I waited until all three were out. And so far, this series--this book at least--is a hit for me.

Jake and Conor’s story is so strong and heartbreaking. It started out very cute and romantic and within the same section of the story, turned very horrifying. Especially for Conor. And then her heartbreak just didn’t end for years to come.

I was surprised with all the time jumps. I mean I expected one from the bad scene to years later, but I didn’t expect that middle one where she was chased off again. I had my reservations about all that, but they didn’t last too long. I think they were very well timed and used well.

Both Jake and Conor I would say are equally as strong. The heartache that Conor goes through, and yet still protects herself and makes it through is admirable. Conor is that perfect protective hero. He will do anything for Conor, but we don’t see him being obsessive and crazy or anything like that. He is the perfect level and the more the story went on and the more of the great tale emerged, the more we see what he did for her. The overall story is a fantastic second-chance romance that centered around childhood innocence. Their love was true and real even from a young age and they made the pact to give each other their virginity. Until everything that happened. Time jump a few years later, Conor loses it. After the next time jump we find he did too. For a moment it kills the childhood romance, but not long. Not until we hear the truth of everything.

I can’t wait for book 2. We got a little bit of an intro to the characters in it already. And I REALLY can’t wait to read book 3. It’ll be the official end to the larger story in place that began in this one. When big bro comes out of jail…
