I didn't think it could be worse than the TV series of the same name, but apparently it was.
A story full of rich white rude bullies with superiority complex. All tell and no show, all characters were cookie cut. And if you thought series Elena was a horrible heroine, I have bad news for you. 
Read only because I wanted to read a diary format and I was disappointed when it turned out to be a few inserts in the whole text.

I'm on a nostalgia journey because I remember reading this series way back in high school before the tv show was even a thing. I know that they are radically different than the series, but I remember enjoying them a lot.

I will say the first book is weak. Are any of the characters likable? Not really. Is the entire plot and romance shaky? Absolutely. Are there outdated views on current hot topics? Definitely. But come on. It's a teen vampire romance. Of course it's angsty. Of course the love is inexplicably instant. Of course the seniors in high school are bratty, bitchy, and arrogant. 

None of that makes it less of a fun trip down memory lane. I can't wait to get to the rest of the books because I remember some pretty interesting things that happen in the rest of the series!

Boring, pointless, no difference in characters, uninspiring, just a bad read. Do not recommend this on any front. (If you want a similar story, but done better just watch the show) I tried not to compare it to that, but it’s so hard not to.

An incredibly dislikable main character who seems completely unaware of anyone around her made his a frustrating read. It was short though.

So this was just not good lol. First Elena Is so annoying and self centered. She’s not like other girls she’s better 🙄. She literally thinks every boy is In love with her. She’s also a terrible friend. Also Stefan had no and I mean not an ounce of personality so I don’t know why everyone wanted him. Also the show is so much better because they honestly changed everything. I wouldn’t really recommend unless you want to see the differences between the show and book or you just love the show.
