After the first underwhelming and underdeveloped THE YOUNG ELITES, thank the Lord this book was so much better. Stronger character development of all characters, even the side ones. I especially loved the edition of new characters (Magianno holy guacamole).

This was a fantastic read though especially psychologically. Seeing Adelina's slope into madness was so well done and very tragic. But at the same time we get this parallel of the other characters crumbling as well.

It was just really interesting. And way better than the first book.

Can't wait for Midnight Star!

Adelina, I don't know that I'm cheering for you. But I don't know that I'm cheering against you either. Mostly, I would like for you to find peace. But can you, after all you've reaped? We will see. Looking forward to the conclusion of this series.

Wow... I feel like that's the first thing I always write when I begin my review of a Marie Lu novel but I mean it. The book just leaves me speechless, completely in awe at Lu's masterpiece.
When we read trilogies, the second book tends to be the weakest, that is definitely NOT the case for the Rose Society! The Young Elites was amazing but THIS ONE WAS PURE PERFECTION!!!! I have nothing bad to say about this book. This book has EVERYTHING I've ever wanted out of a book. Fantasy, Action, Adventure, Love (and love triangles, hee hee), and best of all... A new take on a main character. Instead of following a protagonist who fights against evil, we follow the story of a deadly antagonist. Over the course of the book we see how her darkness deepens, we realize how a villain BECOMES a villain. Adelina is a villain that you're sure to love.
Plus the ending is twisted! The climax of the story is ASTONISHING! There is so much I want to say about this book but I don't want to SPOIL ANYTHING so that's all I can say (unfortunately)
I will leave you with this, if you have neither read the Yound Elites OR the Rose Society, go pick it up NOW! DO NOT HESITATE A SECOND LONGER! Believe me, you are sure to FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS STORY!

This book was interesting, but extremely dark. I have never met a character like Adelina before. She definitely falls more on the side of evil, but she fools herself, and the reader, into thinking she is good. It resonates with the side all of us have but don’t want to admit- the side that takes pleasure in others' pain, the side that seeks glory and doesn’t care what price they of anyone else have to pay.

I loved it so much!! Somehow Marie Lu's writing managed to get even better; I didn't know that was possible.
