Why is this a 4? Because why not.

This book was fast paced, had a decent push and pull plot and was EXTREMELY dark.
Like next level twisty, macabre, dark romance.

In this story you are following Jack and Zoe. Jack is a serial unaliver (think butcher and blackbird) with no morality to save him, Jack just enjoys making people meet their end and gets very "worked up" in the process. He is making his next massacre at fun house when he runs into Zoe who has him stuttering to finish the job and she happens to escape. Now Jack is turning into a new kind of unaliver by stalking after Zoe the new object of his obsession.

This story had twists, very dark triggers, knife play on another level, and honestly it was pretty interesting. I would NOT consider this an entry dark romance at all as this has very dark sexually explicit scenes. Check your warnings prior to read this book and then as the books dedication states "Meet at midnight is dedicated to those who say reading is their therapy. Be a good girl and flip the page, it's time to take your medicine."

This was so good. I absolutely love the idea of a slasher romance. It did not disappoint. If you’re not into gratuitous violence with your romance, this may not be for you.

Amusing

Once I read the synopsis of this book I knew I had to dive in. I enjoyed the concept, and I think the multiple POVs really added to the story. I wasn’t sure how the series would continue, but the glimpse we had of the next book has made me excited to see what the author is going to do next.

The story wasn’t overly dark, although there are some dark concepts. I liked the little twists and how the two main characters played off one another. The ended is what I expected and it is an HEA, in its own way. Maybe not as traditional but it worked.

This was a quick read and perfect for spooky season. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

A wickedly twisted game of cat and mouse with rival serial killers.
I swear I had a sinister grin on my face the entire time while reading this. With each page, the characters became more unhinged and their mental stability cracked and oozed insanity. Meet At Midnight had so many classic slasher moments with its own variation of spice. The twists and turns around each corner were far from what I was expecting and I loved every moment of it. I had so much fun reading this and I really look forward to more Umbra Valley books.
Happy Slashing ;)

If you are vanilla. Close this review and walk away.

Zoe came face to face with the Massacre Maniac two years ago. Now she is his final girl.

Jack is annoyed. He is the Massacre Maniac but some new serial killer is in town and taking his spot light.

This is a 5⭐️ for me. I love a good dark romance with two completely unhinged characters.

I did not know how these two were going to end either a HEA or killing each other. I was on my toes the whole entire time and it wasn’t because of the plot. This spice in this book is top notch spice.

This book is so addicting. I can’t wait to see the rest of the series.

The thing that stood out to me the most in this book was the absolute perfection that was the description of Frankie’s Fun World. It sets the tone for the book brilliantly, immediately immersing you into the dark decaying and abandoned town of Umbra Valley.

The story is a chaotic back and forth battle to see who is the better serial killer. It’s amusing, dark, disturbing and perfectly fitting for the spooky season. Jack and Zoe are the perfect match and the way each of them come to that realisation is psychotic and oddly sweet. The spice and Jack’s dirty mouth will have you questioning everything you thought you knew about yourself. The words “what a good f✨king girl” should not be so hot in reference to someone being strangled to death…

Short, spicy, dark, kinky.

Please check the triggers before reading because this book is def not for everyone.

I do wish some things were explained more but it was enjoyable.

My most anticipated read of 2023! If Beatrix Hollow writes it, Im going to read it. Well, great news! Meet at Midnight is her debut for her contemporary pen name, Lux Oleander!

Meet at Midnight was even better than I imagined. I read it in less than a day! I loved everything about it. The mutual obsession. The vengence of the MMC towards the other s3r1al k1ll3r. The delusions the MMC has. The easter eggs from Frankie's Funhouse were so fun to find, and I looked forward to the next reference. The messed up kinky bits, and there were quite a few. All of it was written well, and with the perfect amount of detail. I loved seeing the character growth of both characters, and those spicy scenes were absolutely
