To keep it real, I have retained very little from this book. The only note I made, was that the authour was rich and kept mentioning other rich Palestinians...

very informative but i question my gut feeling that there are elements of liberalism in khalidi’s personal connections and how he discusses international institutions as if they have legitimacy and value. but i learned far more, hence four stars

This is an extremely depressing book that frames the Israel-Palestine conflict as the former enacting war on the latter for 100+ years. There is a lot of compelling information and historical analyses in this book. The author does not hide the fact that he has been directly involved in the Palestinian cause for decades, and this certainly influenced the way he described (or failed to) relevant events. I expected this to be a good starting point for someone wanting to learn more about Israel & Palestine, but due to the position of the author, I think this book is best consumed with a solid understanding of the conflict.

The conclusion is absolutely harrowing in light of the current genocide and ethnic cleansing that Israel is committing against the Palestinians. It's gotten so much worse since where Khalidi left this book.
