Definitely the worst Narnia book. I can see why it wasn't made into a film! Very boring and nothing much happened.

So much of the character description and portrayal came across as Islamaphobia or colorism. I was expecting a fun children’s book, and the story was but it was hard to unsee from just the very beginning of the book. I huge reminder of when these books were written and so far out of the series I think this would be one that hasn’t aged well.

It isn't as big of a scale as some of the other novels, but it does tell the story of redemption of two somewhat ordinary people (at least as ordinary as they get in the Narnia series). As always, a lot of allegory about the Christian walk, and it's very well done.

I read this a long time ago with my older kids. I enjoyed sharing it with the younger kids just as much. I had forgotten much of it, but it came back as I read it. A great story.
