The weakest of the series so far (from a child's viewpoint, at least; reading this through my 6-year old daughter's eyes/reactions), but the sturdiest plot-wise.

To expand, there is more grounded world-building and plot development, but told through what my daughter considered to be boring "nothing, just talking". She's not wrong.

Humour was lacking in this instalment; there's only so much fun my different voices can bring, and talking animals only get you so far (it is no longer the whimsical fancy it was in the predecessors).

A 3.5 would be a fair score, but going with Evie's assessment I've dropped to the 3.

Reading the books in chronological order, this one was next, but another one that I didn’t enjoy as much as some the previous. I really enjoy the stories that involve the four children and their adventures. This part of the Chronicles of Narnia was a little confusing, which is surprising because it’s a children’s story, but even as an adult following the unfamiliar names and characters that are made up and in a different world.

I’m not surprised that out of the entire series I would enjoy some of the stories more than others, as any series of books goes. Plus knowing they are aimed for a younger audience helps me get through them more than anything else.

More like why was the horse and his boy necessary?

“Do not dare not to dare.”
