The “why” behind Jax’s aversion to a real relationship takes awhile to be revealed, which made it hard to connect with his character. I liked this book, but I didn’t love it. I did enjoy the epilogues, and I’m excited to read the last book of the series !

I cried. Didn’t expect to, but I did. This book addresses grief, terminal illness, and mental health full on. Maya and Jax’s relationship is one of the least shallow ones that I’ve read in a while. Not because they both had their demons on display throughout the book, but because they chose to love each other and build a future together knowing that shit is going to get ugly and that they’ll have no choice but to compromise. Jax’s line about being a broken mosaic that still proves to be beautiful is fitting.
