Similar thematically to I who have never known men but way more pages on the dreariness of day to day life. Kinda slogged in the middle but the ending stuck it for me. Great read for matching the vibes to hiking in the Dolomites

Meravellosa. Vaig conèixer aquest llibre gràcies al comentari a Twitter d'una amiga. D'altra manera, segurament no hauria avançat llegint-lo.
I Lynx! Sort que t'avisa des de gairebé el començament. Però tot i així... Meravellosa!

The Wall is tremendous in its smallness. I wanted to stay in her world, focus only on aching legs and calluses hands, on weeds to be pulled and hay to be dried. It shouldn’t work, it should grow old, but the nameless character’s monologue keeps everything moving slowly and sweetly. She is often scared, often hit by the seriousness of her situation, but she has things she must do, for herself, for her animals, for the forest and everything in it. Her tenderness for the animals, both within her circle and those in the edges, shows such care for the helpless. She has limited power, but to the crows she feeds or the cow she cares for, she is everything.
It’s beautifully written, it feels like a day in the woods where time stops having any power on it all, with pollen swirling in the sun, or the wind bending the trees in a storm. It feels like a diary of the earth as well as a diary of a woman facing her smallness in it, discovering her purpose despite it all.

“even now, i’m nothing but a thin skin covering a mountain of memories.”
such an interesting concept that was actually well executed. this book is a whirlwind; i loved the amount of detail, the love clearly put into it, and the exploration of a human beings ability to connect with nature, animals, and their own bodies when torn away from societal expectations and routines. just extremely cool, beyond beautiful, and a masterclass in imagery. lynx being killed by a human being …… truly said so much by saying nearly nothing. everyone in this book deserved 100x better but their ability to make the best out of what they had was moving. i’m glad i read this. the innocence and simplicity of nature and animals is something i always think about and this book made me feel so much 🌳🐦⬛
