It should not have taken me eight days to finish this, but it did. This was such a slow paced book and poor timing on my part, for I read I Who Have Never Known Men right before this. In my opinion, they are sister books and sadly, this one is the more monotonous, boring, lackluster sister. But, it is still good, and I desperately did not wanna DNF this book.
And I’m so glad I pushed through😭
I think the last ten to twenty pages of this book made up for all the snoozing I had to get through. This book is so tragic and REAL,
and of course none of these animals will live, and neither will she.
And I understand the monotony representing the grueling pattern of just.. living. Just getting through the day, every. single. day. I do get it! And I relate to it.  I just hate slow burns and wish it would’ve moved faster.
The animals in this book broke me. Each of their deaths pained me, and I cried for Bull, Lynx, and Pearl. I am such an animal lover and the worst part that comes with loving them is grieving them.
I really wish this wasn’t half baked. I wish I could give it a higher review because I see the potential. I find it so interesting how she didn’t seem to miss her daily life. I find it interesting we only knew about her house and farm work and only tiny specks of her “normal” life. I want to like this so much more! It’s moved me but I was so, so bored.

Similar vibes to I Who Have Never Known Men, but not as good in my opinion. This got a little repetitive to the point where I started getting bored and just wanted something else to happen!

Not as scary or as much of a thriller as I thought it might have been, but it somehow bring a few nightmares. If you forget about the wall, you almost forget that this woman is trying to survive. It reads as a daily log of a woman living in the woods, rather than her living alone at the end of the world. I did find the bits of foreshadowing (
like the mention of each animal's death long before it happened
) a bit distracting, like I had missed something. Overall a pretty quick and good read.

was fĂŒr ein Buch, was fĂŒr ein Bericht.
