Let's start the New Year off with a bang. Forgot the resolutions. Forget the promises. Make good choices that is Natalie's new mantra. Getting out of a rut is Brennan's desire.

Natalie is fresh out of a divorce with only a penthouse and job that no longer includes her ex-husband to show for it. She passes her days by working, working and more work as an ER nurse. But tonight she is going to bring in the New Year with her best friend, Emerson. Just a quick stop to pick up beer and it is time to celebrate.

Brennan is snowed in, stuck in mounds of the white stuff in Boston instead of lying on a beach in sunny California. No matter where he brought in the New Year he would have to deal with crazy fans. What to do?? What to do? A call to Jordan, the one guy he keeps in touch with and plans are made. A quick trip to the grocery store to take care of the BYOB and he would be on his way.

Who knew choosing the right beer could lead to a bright new year? This is a cute, quick second chance romance that has all the complications of a long distance romance and a guy that is a superstar.

Frustrations fill the pages. If this is to work one of them will have to sacrifice. Who will it be? Let the countdown begin to a sweet, romantic happily ever after.

01/01/2021 Reading this was a great way to bring in the New Year.

Stopping for beer and meeting up with your high school boyfriend is not something Natalie ever thought would happen especially on New Year's Eve. What adds another level to this chance meet up is that Brennan just happens to be a rock star that Natalie let get away at the end of high school. But both still feel the spark and the chemistry is still there. Can they both fall back in love before the clock strikes midnight? Or will his career be too much for her to get past? With adorable characters this was a fun read. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the year has in store.

This was a quick read, and enjoyable. I stumbled upon this, and thought I'd give this shot. And I'm glad that I did.

Brennan and Nat were high school sweethearts. But after graduating, they broke up so they could both pursue their dreams- Brennan to become a rock star, and Nat to become a nurse. Years later, both having accomplished their dreams, they happen to run in to each other on New Year's Eve, and get to know each other again.

I thought this book was really good! I love a good rock star romance. The only thing that really bothered me was that the ending seemed a little abrupt for me; I would have liked a little more to satisfy me about their future.

I most certainly will read more in this Dating series!

This was a great start to this series. The characters and storyline are very creative. I love that this was a quick read so if I want to re-read before the next book, I can. I’m very excited to see how these books progress.

This was a fun, flirty New Years' Eve, second chance read.
Natalie and Brennan had great chemistry and history. I enjoyed the way it felt familiar to one of my favorite Heidi McLaughlin series but was still a fresh new read.
It works well as a short, the characters are developed enough to carry it without lengthening it to accommodate more.
I received a free copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

This was a nice quick read. It was light and sexy. Second chance love with a couple who never really got over their love back in High school. Brennan and Natalie both had big dreams in high school and decided a mutual parting on good terms would be best. They both feel they missed out on so much, but that they also did go on the reach the goals they set. They just didn't get the fulfillment they thought they would from it. A snowstorm and chance meeting in the beer aisle in the grocery on NYE and feelings buried deep and left in the past come souring to the surface. But can a rock star and ER nurse really work out in the long run. He is world famous, she is a nobody...

A Date for Midnight is Book 1 in 'The Dating Series' by Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover. This series is a collection of standalone novellas that I stumbled upon on Amazon since I've never read a book from either of these authors.

The blurb is pretty self-explanatory, this is a cute second chance romance set on New Year's Eve. Since it is just 90 odd pages everything that happens is quick and sexy with minimal or zero angst with a happy ending.

As it is a novella, I can't expect for much but I would have appreciated one extra chapter to tie in that ending and some more space for Brennan and Natalie's spark to shine through.
