Tragic, heartbreaking, but a head spinning realistic book about survival and trauma
This book sucked me in and I read it in a 24 hour period. It was much longer than I expected but I really loved how it didn't just drop us off with a happy ending. It keeps going and shows a realistic saddened aftermath of what happens when you go through a trauma. Man I rooted for the main character and I wanted so badly for him (and others) to overcome what had happened to them. I did wish more loose ends had been tied up and that the main character had more time with a few other side characters at the end rather than the over focus on one side character in particular but it still ended in a way that left me feeling safisfied.

This book was pretty nice. Although I would have liked a bit more suspense (I thought Sayers really was Daniel at first, but I very quickly understood that he was not) with a plot twist or something, it was still entertaining. I loved the construction: Saye's life before, the abduction, Saye's life after. Although there was no romance, Evan was such a cutie; he was the only one who really cared about Saye's mental health. The identity crisis was well handled, so this book is a five-star for me.

"We come into the world ready to love whoever shows up, good or bad—that’s what we do."
did I just read this 500 page book in two sittings? Maybe...maybe not...
sidenote: this is actually outrageous. I literally probably took like ten minutes writing a review and then when I went to post it, IT WAS DELETED! literally so annoying. Sooooo I shall try and write *roughly* the same review...but I am in class and my energy level is *significantly* lower heh.
ANYWAYS. This book was chef's kiss. I have to agree with Lizzie because I am having an existential crisis right now and forever. This book put me through I real one. I have to say: [b:A List of Cages|25613472|A List of Cages|Robin Roe|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1455814564l/25613472._SY75_.jpg|45424741] was more...I'm not really sure what word to use, but it was just *more*. But, that doesn't mean that this book wasn't soooooo good! I was just sobbing through A List of Cages and I didn't find myself crying in this one, but I was close to crying but not quite to the degree that I was in A List of Cages.
But this was heartbreaking. I talked to Lizzie before I read this book and she said that the first part was really kinda meh and so I think that I just had a really low bar SO it was better than I thought it was! Yeah sure, Saye (dumb name by the way) was a horrible person but I couldn't help but feel bad for him because I knew what was going to happen. AND THERE WAS NOTHING THAT I COULD DO TO HELP HIM! I felt so freaking HELPLESS the whole book. I was literally just sitting there reading his horrible fate. Of course, that's what a book is but STILL.
Anyways, the ending of this book was a freaking dagger to the soul. I felt SO BAD for him when he was home from being kidnapped and he is just trying to get back to his real and normal life. I can't. Did I have a freak-ton amount of homework work yesterday that I didn't do because I was reading? Yes, yes I did. And now I have to do all of that homework today....BUT IT WAS WORTH IT. I COULDNT STOP READING THIS BOOK! aeoihgao'erhg'aerog. Why does Robin Roe have this thing about her books. I read A List of Cages in one sitting and this book in two. eijgaeorgae
For those of you who loved and cried to A List of Cages as much as I did, I would suggest that you read this book. For those of you who need to feel something because they are too caught up in life and college and work, read this book.
I cannot stop thinking about this book. When I was walking to class yesterday, I couldn't stop thinking about it. When I was watching a movie THAT WAS NOT RELATED AT ALL, I couldn't stop thinking about it. When I was just lying in bed trying to fall asleep, I COULDNT STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS BOOK! And now I won't be able to stop thinking about it today because I am now writing this review FOR A SECOND TIME.
okay okay, I have to pay attention in class now....soooo
PEACE AND FAREWELL
