The concept seemed interesting but the writing wasn't very gripping & seemed a bit directionless - I might try this again in the future

Read in mostly one sitting, on a balcony in Pigalle. Unforgettable.

very brief and very introspective! lacked some warmth/tenderness (?) but had some great lines! ("It occured to me that what I had transmitted to her, across four countries, was pain.") - 3.75

Dnf @ 66%. This book is only ~200 pages long and yet I still had a hard time getting through it. The premise of a burnt out world-class pianist taking a break from performing and moving away to a small town to teach beginner lessons sounds incredibly up my alley, except the narration feels like it isn't going anywhere. Didn't like it as much as I should have but seeing how this is a widely beloved author this is most likely a me problem
