This is interesting take on the first contact story. Cool ideas and great character voices (the one-chapter animal characters were particular standouts), but I found the story a little unfocused and disjointed, especially around the midpoint when the gods showed up.

An incredibly vivid and imaginative book about a first contact extraterrestrial encounter that takes place in Lagos, Nigeria. Totally fascinating and unlike any other first contact stories I've read or seen. PS don't stop at the acknowledgements--there's a "postchapter" afterwards that's short but worth the read.
