I LOVE this book!!! I also love a complicated family and boy oh boy have we got some complicated family dynamics. Pepper’s mom is complex and makes a lot of bad choices and I think that is actually great representation.
The audio book was top notch.

Dude! Pepper just needed to set some boundaries! I found the relationship between children and parents frustrating but it was accurate. Honestly, a sweet little high school romance book that is a great little pick me up book. Real easy to get through in just one sitting too.

Tweet Cute is one of those books that has a romance that is so sweet your sweet tooth would be satisfied in a matter of minutes. This book was truly adorable but also had some real heart behind it. The characters were one of the best parts and were what made this book enjoyable and different from its predecessors.
The Writing- It was very balanced and descriptive when needed. I think the decision to have two different points of view for every two chapters really benefited the story. It gave us a sense of what was going on in both Jack & Peeper's heads when certain situations happened. It also showed us how things happened and what lead up to those decisions. I really liked that the author included parts written in the form of a tweet because it gave me a sense of immersion and connection. It looked like things you would see on Twitter.
The Plot- It was a pretty decent plot as far as romance novels go. I loved the enemies to lovers trope and I thought it was executed very well. Using two opposing restaurants battling for costumers and both equally passionate about their food was a good idea to boost the rivalry. New York was a very good choice of setting because it is a melting pot of different cultures and food and customs. It would make perfect sense for it to take place there. One thing I really appreciated was the theme of pretending to be something you aren't just so you don't hurt the ones you love and how trying to achieve everything can't make you happy.
The Characters-
Pepper- I adored her character, her need to try to be the best at everything she does is very relatable to people. I also appreciated that she wasn't a mean person or showed off how good she was. She was just trying to be a good person and sometimes had trouble making friends. She was very passionate about baking and her hometown of Nashville. You could tell how much she missed her home and how hard it was for her to move. She was also deeply affected by her parents divorce and her sister Paige and her mother's estrangement. She was constantly put in the middle and always had to pick a side. I think she just finally got tired of it and didn't want to choose between the two people she loved the most. Pepper did feel like she had alot of pressure on her to do well and make something of herself but she eventually learned she had to do it for her and not anyone else.
Jack- I really liked Jack, he was just so much more then a typical rebellious teenage boy. His passion and love for his family and their restaurant was what drew me to him. He had a very close bond with his grandmother, the founder of the restaurant. He felt she was the only one in the family that didnt judge him and let him be himself. His relationship with his brother, Ethan was another story. Because they were twins he always got compared to Ethan and his accomplishments. He felt at times that people, even his own parents, loved his brother more then him. That resentment for his brother has made their relationship very strained and Jack always had to one up Ethan. He really wanted to do his own thing and pursue his own dreams but felt like he couldn't because of his family's expectations of him. Despite all of this, he never looses his sense of humor and kindness for others.
The Romance- It was so sweet and adorable. I loved watching the two of them bond and become closer. How they both judged each other and surprised to find that neither of them were what they thought they were. At first they pretended to be against each other, battling it out with sarcastic tweets and gifs but then they both started to feel bad for treating each other like that. Jack being the first one to develop feelings was really cute and I loved his nicknames for her. Pepper's witty comebacks were great too. The addition of having them talk to each other but not know they were talking to each other was a great way to build their relationship up without them even knowing it.
Why I am giving it 3.5 stars?- I have had nothing but good things to say about this book so why am I giving it this rating? Because two things personally bothered me, one was how easy it seemed for these kids to get into these ivy league colleges. I mean I understand they go to a private school and maybe that helps but that cant be all that it takes. It just seemed to easy. The second thing was I didnt think the whole Twitter war was that realistic. It just seemed very unprofessional coming from two well know restaurants and I just think that some of the tweets would not be allowed. Those are just my gripes, they dont have to be issues for other people and I dont want that to be a reason you dont read this. I do still recommend this book and I had such a fun time with this one. This is the book that will satisfy your sweet romance needs and make you feel romantic all over.
