Some very interesting points and overall a great story. I found it dragged on just a little too long. I also am not generally a self-help book fan, which this kind of turned into in the last half of the book, while the first half was more of a memoir. Worth the read and it is an interesting look at the psychological impacts of trauma.
Indescribably poignant and beautiful. This is a book I would wholeheartedly reccomended to anyone, the lessons and observations that Eger offers are more valuable than many I have encountered in my life thus far.
Egers prose is consistently captivating, and keeps the book flowing at a pace that will make you struggle to put it down.
I honestly cannot offer this book enough praise, it is truly magnificent and is surely not one that I will be forgetting anytime soon. Do yourself a favor and read it as soon as possible!

A great and inspiring story of overcoming many challenges!
“Each moment is a choice.” - It is hard to put into words how a book such as this affects me. But the one thing that stands out is that idea of choice, how we go through our lives making choices all day every day and how those choices end up shaping our lives. Dr. Eger’s work with PTSD and trauma has been such a gift to many. In a field where many deal with trauma and post-traumatic stress we could use a few more like her.

I wasn’t sure about the structure of this book at first but the ending really pulled it all together. So powerful and sad and hopeful and thought provoking. It makes sense she considered Frankl a mentor
Beautiful book of strength, courage, and choice to take responsibility for your life, processing trauma, and turning the inevitable challenges life gives you into lessons that help you become better and maybe even serve a better purpose. Dr. Edith Eger has been through the darkest darkness surviving the Holocaust and it is incredible to see her journey to become a doctor and be a source of inspiration for so many, including many Americans serving the military. She really provides so many lessons to take away from this and I truly will cherish this book always.
Profound.
This was my 1st read with an in depth view of WWII.
I appreciated the way the author took us deep into the realities she endured, then brought us through the layers of her own healing, education and how she applied her knowledge with patients. It was an experience and will stay with me for many years to come.
