Steve Jenkins’s trademark bright and detailed illustrations portray the animals that lay eggs (including two mammals), where animals lay their eggs, how many eggs each animal lays, the size of different eggs, and more. While the information about each animal is simple and brief, there is such variety in topics covered that a younger reader might be overwhelmed by the information on each page.

Steve Jenkins and Robin Page never disappoint.
A lot of information in this picture book, but it's divided up in a way to make it readable and accessible for many audiences.

Steve Jenkins just doesn't stop! Another great nonfiction picture book about all-things egg.

Jam-packed with fascinating facts about eggs and the different creatures that lay them, this wouldn't make a good read aloud, but would be perfect for browsing or as supplemental text for a science unit.

I love Steve Jenkins' art and this book was a wonderful chance to see it used in many ways. A bit long at times, but the amount of information I learned in such a short time was absolutely worth it!

A very cool nonfiction picture book about eggs—what animals lay them, how big they are, how many animals lay, and more. Steve Jenkins' cut-paper illustrations are gorgeous and detailed. Excellent.

The illustrations in this, and all of Steve Jenkins and Robin Page's books, are so lovely. The layout is beautiful, and the facts are fascinating. Eggs are cool. I learned that there is a species of fish that lays fertilized eggs and non-fertilized eggs at the same time, so that when the former hatch they can eat the latter. Awesome.
