there's a lot to wrap my head around here, and it gave me genuine gloom sessions where i'd sit and try to uncover the loop my life has been. it's a wonderful book that experiments and attempts to describe how people communicate and navigate their relationships, at times unsuccessfully so, and the kind of strapping impact it could make on people, their words or their decisions. i'm glad it's open-ended, and there's a lot to appreciate about the book which overtime i would come around with

Somehow in the midst of all the weeping forgot to mark this as read and rate it.
Anyways the rating is there but I REFUSE to think about this book for any longer. I have felt SO much rage and sorrow reading this and I still very much do.

I liked the way this book was written, the economical writing featuring exquisite details that revealed the characters quite naturally. The dialogue was very natural too and there were multiple points where I loved the way something was written.

It was very reminiscent of the coming of age time. I felt like more events could have happened during the book and I’m dying to read a book next that has a driving plot.. in some ways, this book is the literary version of a will-they-won’t-they TV show relationship so I’m very unsurprised to see it will be a TV show. I don’t think it’ll be one I will watch though.

Interested to read other Sally Rooney books.

It’s definitely one of this awkward reads imo butttt I eventually was really invested in the characters. I appreciated seeing their growth throughout the book. If definitely has me hyped to watch the show ☹️🤟🏽(hyphy face)

Disclaimer: I’m not happy with the book, so please Don’t comment hate and so on because I warned you. This is only my view and my thoughts, Sally Rooney is a great author but this book just wasn’t for me.

I’m gonna keep this short because honestly I have no idea what I just read, everything was so confusing, the time skips made me questions if I was reading the book right or if I just couldn’t remember what was happening, which was both. The story was not memorable, it some factors it was good like how it walked through the abuse that Marianne was facing from her brother, Alan and how she was able to get help from Connell, even if it was in the second last chapter. But in other parts it promoted unhealthy relationships and ways to cope. Such as cheating. I Don’t know if I misread it but I swear this book glorified cheating.

The ending although fast was good, they both got a happy ending and navigated through there troubles that they overcomes, but other then that this book was just a bunch of random memories forced into one book, saying they “connect” somehow then Don’t. The story didn’t get any reaction out of me, every “twist and turn” only got a “that’s it?” Out of me. It was mind-numbing if I am being as honest as I can be.

I Don’t know if I should watch the show or not.

Also I know this is a bit so great review so thanks for being patient with moi <3
