Not quite for me. Unfortunately I like/need fluid prose, and it’s no fault of the author that Japanese translated into English cannot flow that way. The impression I had was many stilted short sentences painting a sympathetic and sad image of the suffering experienced by homeless people in Ueno park, tied into the broader events of the Olympics, the fukushima tsunami, and poverty. It was not a deep impression.

Being a ghost and just observing may sound boring to some people. I don't think I would mind all that much. It would be more frustrating to not be able to interfere when events are occurring.
"I used to think life was like a book: you turn the first page, and there's the next, and as you go on turning page after page, eventually you reach the last one. But life is nothing like a story in a book. There may be words, and the pages may be numbered, but there is no plot. There may be an ending, but there is no end."
