As the 2nd book in the series of the Dark Hunters, I really enjoyed Talon and Sunshine's story. I also loved the deeper look in Ash and a few other Hunters. Sherrilyn Kenyon has quickly become on of my favorite artists for her writing style and ability to really draw you in to the book.

Night Embrace, book 4 of the Dark-Hunters series, by Sherrilyn Kenyon (McQueen) @mysherrilyn. This is a reread of this series for me. Long overdue, at that! 😂 I am reading this series in the order from Sherrilyn’s website.

Talon & Sunshine, are soulmates. From 1500+ years ago & now Sunshine is reborn. Talon & Sunshine fall in love against all odds & they are able to be together for their immortal lives. If you like MF, PNR, Celtic beginnings, & eternal live, then this book is for you!

Back again with the next installment of the dark hunter series. I liked this book more than the "first" one. It felt a little more grounded...or as grounded as you can get with the content. More grounded in the sense that I feel like it's a world now.

It started out like just the thing you would expect. Guy meets girl.(duh) Guy saves girl. (Again. Duh) Girl saves guy ??kinda?. Girl takes guy back home (be still my heart) and has steamy "one time thing" sex (right that always works) then bad-for-you guy in leather and carefree-Flighty-hippie girl catch the feeling. We find out hippie girl is his reincarnated wife...wait.. anywayyy it gets more complicated but thems the basics .

I liked talon and sunshine a lot more than I thought I would.

Talon is a Celtic warrior. Got to love a tortured bad boy who don't need anyone with a heart of a poet (snort). He's tough-leather wearing-motorcycle driving-badass dark hunter who can control the weather and lives in the bayou with gaters (yum). I felt for his storyline. He wasn't accepted by his clan .Everyone he loved died. He's cursed then sold his soul for vengeance. So he has to worry about being cursed two different gods. (Boo.)

Sunshine was sweet. She was carefree, vegetarian, funny and talented artist. I liked that she was eccentric and knew what she wanted when it came to her goals and him. it was refreshing. I thought it was great that she put him in his place and snarked off to him. (The couch scene was a favorite in the book) she was sassy and I might have a soft spot for her type of characters traits because I wanted to be that eccentric kind of girl who always has a comeback but wears flowing dresses and had paint stained hands.

Sooo let's get to sex. It was way better than the first book . I felt like a lot of their interactions felt genuine and they had good chemistry. Sometimes I got distracted by words like swollen groin (what..) and all that "mmm mm" (I get it you want to bang him and he's got a great body) but mostly it was just what you wanted..hot steamy marathon sex. I read some reviews that people were saying to much sex in this book and I mean sure there's a lot but it's also a romance novel not just a regular urban fantasy. The main plot is suppose to be the romance. Ehh either way I might be desensitized to reading about sex by now.

Forbidden love. Sex. Angst. Past characters just checking in and then new characters that I'm sure will get their own books. Soulmates. Sex. More angst. Reincarnation. Massive plot to unleash a goddess and destroy the world. Oh yea sex. It's all there smack down in the middle of Marti Gras . It's fun . More gods and were hunters and all that stuff . We get more ash back story and his dynamic with Artie . (Love hate takes on a creepy new meaning between them that I liked to see. Ash has been slowly becoming my favorite character)

I joke but I liked this book. It was enjoyable and funny I laughed a few times. For me with romance books I don't want to be critical we all come knowing exactly what we are picking up. It's going to be filled with tropes and cheesiness and all those moments that are ridiculous. I also think the author does a good job with dialogue I hate when I go "no one would say that" so points for that. But really we all want to laugh and go aw maybe a little bit of angst. (Or for me a lot )and go jeez have some sexy times already.

Ok ok so...

The series so far has been fun to read and plan on continuing on. You should read it if you think it's something you would be into . The worst that could happen is you get bored and don't finish it.
