RATING: 3 STARS

Best Friends (Sweet Valley Twins Graphic Novels #1) was a great nostalgic trip! The only reason I rated it 3 stars is that I am not a fan of the updates to modern times. I miss the 80s and 90s version, but I am not the audience for this new graphic novel series. This is for the new generation and I think they will be sucked in to the Sweet Valley as much as we were. I will continue with the next book, AND maybe revisit the original chapter book series. I still plan to do a reread of High and University for sure, so stay tuned!

This certainly brings me back to a time when I was reading the original series. This was a great first story, introducing Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield. Complete opposite but love each other anyway. Very well illustrated!!!!

Super cute! I never read the original chapter books so I don't know how this is different to those. But I enjoyed reading this graphic novel. Jessica and Elizabeth are in middle school and they are twins who are always together. They dress the same and do the same things. However, Jessica is now wanting to be part of the Unicorn Club and she'll do what it takes to get in. Elizabeth has other ideas; she wants to be in the newspaper and is really excited to start ballet. Will they be able to keep doing everything together or will they start branching out? Read it to find out!

The art was really cute and the story was good, but I can't help and feel like this is a typical twin story. I felt like I had read it before even though I know I hadn't read this one. Despite that, the art style was really enjoyable and it was cool to actively work at trying to figure out which twin was which while I was reading.
