Self-development books can get BORING sometimes without much to add.

But this book is kind of different. It's simple, easy to read, no psychological mumbo-jumbo you won't feel. Very applicable, and I like the way the authors explains and gives views on things. Most make pretty good sense to me.

To be honest, this book to me is like a summary of all possible self-development books (minus a few, of course).

I read this because it is part of Mr. Money Mustache's Reading List. Lately, I have been reviewing my earning and spending habits and reading the Mustache blog here and there. While I don't agree with some of his sentiments, I have found some of his posts to be resourceful, so I decided to check out his reading list. If you have never heard of Mr. Money Mustache, you must know that he does have a cult-like following. He is about financial independence and D.I.Y as much as possible. His work gets people passionate about living a frugal lifestyle. Therefore, I was expecting that this book will help inspire ways to think in a more visionary way, be more creative. After all, a tiny part of why he is able to live like he does is because he is creative. He claims that reading it made him permanently happy- that alone should have made me suspect.

The book's biggest thing is think positive and you'll be a winner. It's not about practicing creativity for creativity's sake at all. It is geared to the business mindset and to production. It's about getting people to like you. It's about liking yourself as a positive person, and shooing away the "negative" aspects of how you think and feel. Like most self-help books, there are catchy headlines with "real" case studies to back up what the author is saying. And because it's written in the 1950s there are examples of helping out traveling salesmen with their problems (hello, Arthur Miller!) and paying attention to housewives.

The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Schwartz

This book is a must-read for all the people who think they are inferior, they cannot do what they want to do, blame others for the circumstances and are experiencing the failure disease. This book, unlike the other conventional books, provides us with workable methods, not empty promises. The author uses excerpts from his life as examples for certain topics and allows us to think and analyse the pros and cons of thinking the way we think generally.

In general, we people tend to allow all the negativity to ruin our lives, to dwell our sufferings. This book helps you to put a full stop to all of your negativity and helps you discover the true self by allowing you to accept the flaws in you and work on them. The author specifically talks about 13 topics in this book, with practical ways of solving the problems which we think we cannot and talks about the secrets of the success behind the successful people.

The book doesn't sound dull, it keeps you engaged till its last page. If we follow the tips and tricks the author mentions in the book, we can achieve big in our lives. It is a hell of a book, an inspirational and thought-proving one.

I'm grateful to the author for writing this book. I have all the negative qualities the author mentions in here in this book, I never thought them as something that's ruining my journey to reach my destination, to think big, to change. I now know what to do, how I can change myself into. This book is a companion for the people who think they are lost, defeated and are living dead. This book gives you hope to change your lives.

"Life changing" definitely best way to describe this book.I change my attitude and my mind set completely with the principles in this book. I no longer fell fear for my future.I gained confidence and I appreciate my achievements and instead of thinking things I couldn't do it YET. Im thinking about my achievements and how can I improve them. You can be teenager in a high school or business person or have completely different career path I believe every one has one or two lessons to learn from this book. I suggested many people around me and told them about this principles when they had troubles, fears and feed backs really made my day. I enjoyed reading as well and I read it a few more times. Its written in a simple way doesn't bore you when you're reading.I highly recommend it.I also recommend to take notes and use those principles in your life.

In a nutshell, it's mental strategies to shape yourself in a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy way to find success and win in all areas of your life, but mostly in business and careers. All of this information is accessible in some form on the internet if you've ever researched personal and professional development. Personally, i'm a fan of delusional optimism and setting big goals because at the very least you'll land somewhere higher than if you had a pessimistic mindset. Positive thinking, confidence, and a winning mentality is transformative (along with the right opportunities and just the right amount of luck), but you don't need a book like this to tell you that. Now, reality does eventually set in after the initial upward surge in energy with these sort of self-help books as success and personal transformation is vastly more complex than having the right mindset, but having a strong belief system can be foundational towards generating the motivation and conviction that you need to propel yourself forward, but a healthy dose of pragmatism is needed in order to not sabotage and lose touch with reality in the la la land of one's dreams.

The book is a bit old school but the ideas and concepts are still relevant. I didn't like how wives were portrayed in some of his stories but given the era it was written in I understand so it didn't bother me that much. All in all still a very relevant book in this time.
