My Opinion: Underdark is a very interesting place that is hard to even imagine. Out there, in a place where there are no shadows, for there is no light, one has to learn to live, behave differently. In need to hide one must find a way to hide their body heat, for blending in with the surroundings is futile among creatures who were born in the pitch black. To add to that, the schemes of the drow are interesting to read. They’re interlaced with other drow plotting against those drow, for a dark elf is no friend to a dark elf, most of the time, and so you can never be sure whom to trust. Daring sneak-outs, intense escapes, and epic battles, duels.

Truly, I keep saying this, but if you’re into classical fantasy, take these books. A firm 5 out of 5 from me.

The action, story, and emotion are there, but this addition to the story of Drizzt and his companions feels more forced. There is a lot more falling back during the battles on sheer luck than would be preferred and the companions seem to make trips in uneventful days that previously took them adventure filled weeks.
All in all, good but not up to the usual fare produced by Salvatore.

This next installment in the drizzt franchise puts him in his greatest challenge. Facing two people with skills equal to his own. It was reassuring to see him come out on top through the help of his companions, the true mark of difference. Moving from Entrei to several drow seemed the natural next step and gave credence to the choice in bringing the vile assassin back from the dead (or the bring of it).

As curious as I am to see what happens to Menzobarrenzbar I fear Drizzt, with the plethora of novels still ahead of him, has only so much ahead of him without his challenges becoming solely emotional

Para mí, el mejor libro de esta saga de El legado. Dejó en mi mente imágenes que con el paso de los años no puedo olvidar. Genial desde la primera página hasta la última. Quizás el que más me ha gustado de los 23 que he leído.

Quite superb. The continuing adventures of the drow elf, Drizzt, proceed under the masterful pen of Salvatore in this, the 8th book of the series. Giving much greater depth to the emerging anti-heroes and real personalities, as well as dividing the Companions of the Hall and examining their own dealings with grief individually. All this spun around a swashbuckling adventure in and around the fascinating Underworld city of Menzoberranzan. Captivating.

At first I thought I would not like going back to Menziberranzan but I quite enjoyed it.
