I like it! Read for fast paced marriage of convenience romance between a grump of a boss and a gentle soul of a PA, I liked how it’s all setup ti become a marriage of convenience along with the characters back stories. It is such a quick read that I read it in less than 24hrs, one could easily finish it one sitting
Their romance is natural and wholesome while some parts might come off as cliched it’s still a great book to turn to when you need to read something that’ll be easy on your brain and also heartwarming at the same time

Thank you Melanie Moreland for appealing to the poet in my soul. Using beautiful words and emotional moments, The Contract reminds us to appreciate life's greatest moments and make them count. What stood out most for me was this piece of dialogue: " When you get older ... you realize life is made up of moments. All sorts of them. Sad ones, good ones, and great ones. They make up the tapestry that is your life. Hold on to all of them—especially the great ones. They make the others easy to take." That piece of wisdom gave me goosebumps that have yet to disappear. Richard, Katy and Penny are haunting characters in the most breathtaking of stories. My one regret is that I am just discovering this immensely talented author. Melanie Moreland made this moment count. What an impact it made.

I almost didn’t finish this book. If you look at my book history, I would say I read 95% alpha-hole douchebag MMCs. I can’t help it, it’s what I like. But what captivates me is the redemption arc. I love, love, love when the douche gets pulled down 10 notches and becomes a teddy bear.
This MMC is abhorrent. He’s not your typical overly successful billionaire who treats everyone as less than because he’s powerful. No, this guy is just rude to be rude. He is mean to the FMC because of how she eats, dresses and even for being clumsy. He even admits that she’s PERFECT at her job but he despises her and wants her gone. But why? It’s not even the secretly attracted to her trope either. He honestly cannot stand her.
Then, once they get into the contract, he’s still incredibly awful to her. She puts up with it because she’s stuck. But he’s beyond awful.
Once the retribution/redemption takes place, it goes downhill. It went disgustingly sweet and over the top agreeable and delightful. It just wasn’t realistic.
I did finish it, but it was just meh. I feel like there could have been at minimum 50-75 pages less of this book and it still would have turned out the same.
That being said, I did cry. The author did a very good job of breaking your heart over the tragedy that happened.
