The way the author describes grief feels like she put into words what was unspeakable. I felt a lot of nostalgia for some of her vignettes. This book is sad and will make you cry.

Beautiful essays that are nearly poems interspersed with memoir. Reikl has a stunning voice & use of language. Her discussion on loss was deeply moving and insightful. My book club talks about “reading pathways” - this book is all about language and setting, not at all about plot.

This is the saddest book I’ve ever read, and perhaps also one of the most true and beautiful.
