Did this read like a historical romance to anyone else? No? Just me?
Besides that, and it being written in third person, this was a solid story! I balled my eyes out and it was beautiful to read their relationship blossom and grow in the quiet moments.

Adams gives a new twist to a marriage of convenience in Counted. Jude and Eve have known each other forever, but each sees the other only as a friend. And in friendship, Eve agrees to marry Jude so he can fulfill one of his mother’s wishes for him before he dies. But as they work through his personal bucket list, they discover feelings that aren’t at all convenient.
This is territory that Adams has explored before, but this time it’s the hero who’s dying of a disease rather than the heroine (as happened in Listed). I like that the usual story of two people who discover each other through being married has a special challenge in that Jude only has a finite amount of time—and is it worth the inevitable pain if Eve lets herself fall for him?
These are classic Adams characters—well-off Jude supports Eve in her endeavors while she helps him meet his goals—and they fit her classic mold of dealing with a reality that challenges their expectations. It’s a solid, moving read from Adams.

Oh my heart! What a heart wrenching, poignant, and utterly beautiful story.
Jude and Eve were characters that I found myself relating to and therefore, quickly falling in love with. I was so glad to see that we had not only Eve’s point of view, but Jude’s as well. I’m not sure I’ve ever felt so attached to one of this author’s heroes as I did Jude. The relationship development between these two felt authentic. These are not two perfect individuals and their romance was not instantaneous. Nevertheless, it is rich with emotion and rife with steamy goodness.
Counted skirts with an issue that can be triggering for me. However, I’ve read everything this author has written and I trusted her to take me on this journey with realism along with grace and assurance of a happy ending in the traditional sense. I was not expecting the struggle these characters are experiencing, not just physically, but each of them with their own emotions, to feel so true.
Honestly, I was so close to rating this book 4 stars and then I got to the ending. I'm not here to spoil anything, but I personally was so mad that I literally had to put my Kindle down. But that was just me and my opinion. Until then, I really enjoyed this story and the characters. I thought it was well written and the characters were enjoyable. I liked the chemistry that Jude and Eve had. The book had kept me interested throughout and wanting to know what was happening next between the two. I definitely see myself reading more from this author in the future.

“When she didn't say anything, Jude murmured thickly, "Does it really surprise you so much? That I might want to take care of you too?"
Her eyes burned. Her throat tightened. She fought not to start crying again. She was supposed to do better. She shouldn't let him do this. Her plan had been to stay strong so she wouldn't fall apart when Jude was gone. But the truth finally settled on her like a weight.
It was too late. It was already far too late to save herself from heartbreak.”
it’s been a while since i’ve read something that dealt with a lot of heartbreak and loss. don’t ask me why, but i love reading about heartbreak, sad endings and sometimes, maybe, not a happy ever after. they just speak to me. i devoured this book in three hours, my emotions were genuinely put through the wringer because i was at the edge of my seat the whole time waiting for the shoe to drop. i do… wish… the ending was different, though. some might think i’m too cruel to even think that but those who are like me will understand.

I was gifted the opportunity to read this book as an ARC read. Thank you to the author and NetGalley!
WOW! I absolutely LOVED this book! The author does a beautiful job of bringing the characters to life and made me feel with my entire soul what the characters were feeling. Fair warning, this book will have you all in your feelings and you will need tissue! The spicy scenes were beautiful and I shed tears there as well. In short - yes. Yes you should read this book! Bravo Noelle! Bravo!

Haven’t had any hit read by the author ever since I read the second best, and I’m tired. More so of her writing about “average dick sizes” and average ugly man in the guise of realistic romance. Nothing saved this book. It was boring.
