That took forever to end, and Iām not even sure why it took a while to end when the reveals had been done much earlier on.

I'm not sure I'm the right person to read suspense/mystery which is evidenced (again) in how I felt about this highly rated book. I finished it and think Lapena is a solid writer, but just didn't like how the whole "what happened to Avery?" mystery played out. I did not like it, but can see why others might rate it higher. Just not for me.

Shari is always going to be an automatic five stars for me, she is so masterful in her craft. The twists and turns are so well executed, the characters are sharp and precise, the plot moves right along. I was so excited for this book, and it did not disappoint!

Was this completely unrealistic and the same exact format as all of Lapena's other books? Yes.
Did it keep me entertained? Also yes.
The ending wasn't as satisfying as I had wished, and I feel like the last few chapters should have either been cut or changed, butttttttt the absurdity of the story kept me listening.

A relentlessly fast-paced thriller set in a small town where nothing bad happens ā until it does. Dr. William Wooler has been cheating on his wife with Nora Blanchard, a volunteer at the local hospital. When his daughter Avery goes missing, suspicion falls upon William when he is found lying about his whereabouts on the afternoon she disappeared.
Told through the perspectives of all parties involved, we are able to get into their respective psyches. We are omniscient, while ā as per the title ā our cast of characters lie and manoeuvre to protect their secrets and their loved ones. As the Woolers' neighbours start to come forward with their own information, can anyone be trusted?
The multiple twists and reveals throughout the novel had me gasping! The ending was also incredibly satisfying. This was probably my favourite of Shari Lapena's novels thus far, and I highly recommend it for fans of tense domestic and psychological thrillers.

How have I not read all her books yet? Finished in 5 hours. Such a fan of the ending. Crazy to think a 9 year old could be that cunning!
