This was a fun, fast-paced read with fantastic bi representation. Both main characters are bi, and there is really authentic on-page dialogue between Mason and Xeni as he shares the biphobia he’s experienced - both generally from family and from intimate partners he had trusted - and it tackles head-on some of the more frustrating misconceptions about bi folks (the biphobic idea that we can’t be monogamous rearing its ugly head in Mason’s prior relationships). You would think a modern-day, marriage-of-convenience story would feel like a stretch, and while, sure, it does, it also brings incredible levity to a story that still handles tough topics like grief, emotional abuse and abandonment, and more.

This is also an incredibly sex-positive story, where our main characters speak openly and honestly about what they like and dislike, about their sexual histories and health and about how they plan to enjoy their (supposedly limited) time together. I loved glimpses of Xeni’s friend group and Mason’s family and am absolutely going back to read Rafe very soon.

And, critically important: I loved this small-town rep. Cranky county clerk who really blows the wedding vibes? Check. Found family among the handful of people of color in an otherwise extremely white town? Check. Everybody in everybody’s business? Check. And my absolute favorite part: big-city girl falls in love with cute boy-in-henley working at the cozy small-town cafe and PLOT TWIST.

Anyways, I won't spoil anything, but if you're looking for a sweet, hot bi4bi read, this is it.

I liked this better than Rafe and was able to immerse myself in the story more easily. I loved the bisexual representation in Xeni and Mason and that both of them were larger. I’ve just discovered Rebekah Weatherspoon, but am loving the representation in the two books I’ve read so far. Will definitely read more.

This romance is immaculate. A marriage of convenience between a bisexual Black witch and a bisexual plus size white Scotsman. This is one of those romances that feels super tropey and fun, but has a complex and engaging plot. I enjoyed every single minute reading this book.

Rebekah Weatherspoon what have you done to me????? I did an internet deep dive on fat rep in adult romance/erotica (a topic on which there is a surprising dearth of information 😓), and found mention of this book. And OOOHH I am so glad I picked it up because I am LIVING. This was spicier than I am used to, and even included some stuff that I am way not comfy with, but I still managed to LOVE IT? I will be reading everything from this author that I can get my hands on.

Xeni on her own is funny. Mason on his own is funny. But the two of them together? Absolutely hilarious. They had the most natural chemistry I’ve ever seen between two character. I was also delightfully surprised that both MCs are
bisexual; rarely do you ever seen a bisexual male lead
and that our leading man Mason was plus sized. That kind of rep is really lacking, especially in romance so I was really happy about that. This was a really enjoyable read and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
