Loved this!!! The pacing and flow of the writing is so hypnotic. I also really liked the moral ambiguities of the characters. 

As others have said it was just a bit difficult to keep each family member straight in your head but i found it helps to just let the prose wash over you and worry about the details later. 🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜

I really hated this in the beginning, then after a short break I started again and stopped focusing on understanding who the characters were but rather enjoy the narrative in general.

The concept is very good but I felt uncomfortable with the way the novel deals with sexual topics. I don't think there is any real justification for why it needed to be done in the way that it was and it took away from a lot of my enjoyment of the story and its themes.

A Lot of uncomfortable topics, wandering consciousness, and not much is redeeming about any one. Felt throughout like I was missing something.

After reading, and learning the author was emulating how his grandma told stories that made sense. There was also some historical events I didn't relate until reading reviews. It also seems like the incest was kind of supposed to be about isolating from community. A punishment around that? Better stated by internet reviewers lol

I went into this book without having heard anything of it except that it won a Nobel Prize. While beautifully written, the storylines involving p*dophilia and inc*st were quite uncomfortable to go through. However, the stories that follow the family are fantastical and still interesting to read through.

This is a book to read for the lush writing and magical realism, but not if you want a book where you like the characters. 

The circular downfall of Macondo was like watching an incestuous, hedonistic train wreck in slow motion, but Marquez's writing has you unable to look away. 

Ursula deserved better than the men of her family acting like dogs tbh.
