This is an emotional story about overcoming generational trauma, grief, loss and sexual assault. It is also about finding light in the darkness that life can throw at us and finding love through everything mentioned.
But overall, there is something I did not entirely like/enjoy about this one that I can not put my finger on. I felt like in certain areas it dragged along and there are certain parts that could have used more explanation that were left to our own interpretation I guess. The way music was mixed into this was a sweet touch and I can see that being a reason music lovers pick this one up.

Brittany, you brilliant woman. I loved this. I started reading your story for the music, but I stayed for the love. Even though my blood boiled with Emery's "parents" when they "said" something, I wanted to let you know that I knew people like them, and I hated them. Kelly, I hope you heal. Abigail, thank you for being a kind human being. Sammie, to be honest, I wouldn't say I liked your decision to abandon Reese, but I understood your POV. Oliver, I'm happy about your progress and glad you didn't give up on yourself. Reese, you sweet kid, you're so bright (you reminded me of my little one). Emery, I was not the favorite child of three; I feel you. (Though I'm not adopted or anything like that) I felt your pain. It must be awesome to be the favorite child for once, but I accepted this through the years. You inspired me, Emery. To all the strong people out there, I salute you all. You deserve extraordinary lives.✨💕

The romance book I didn’t know I needed! Such a heartbreaking story of overcoming tragedy and finding the music in our lives.

I loved this book beginning to end. There are some very tough moments that I can’t possibly imagine going through. However, the author handles them in such a beautiful and empowering way.

One thing this book left me with is a need to check in with people.
