Random transphobia towards the very end makes finishing what had been an engaging book up until then bittersweet.

The was ambitious and so clever from page one... but then she adds the afterword, making the story personal and addressing the reader: 5 stars and will read everything else Hope Jahren writes (well maybe not academic journal entries... but I am tempted!).

This great book really lays out how the growth of the human population has lead to growth of everything else, and what we can do to help the earth not explode from endless growth. I'd say this is an important book that is very eye-opening.
