Okay. Look. I may have seen someone on booktok talking shit about Riley Sager and it MAY have had me a little tiny bit hesitant to go into this book. But y’all, it slapped!!

Emma is 13 and sent to Camp Nightingale for her first summer away from home. Having arrived late, she ends up in a cabin with three older girls. They become friends, they laugh, they play games. And then the three older girls vanish, poof, gonna. Fifteen years later, Emma is an artist and is asked back to the re-opened Camp Nightingale to teach young girls how to paint. Does she go to gain some closure? Or is she just stirring the pot?

Really liked the book. Kept me guessing at all times and that ending. WOW.

Sager’s work is so confusing to me. he can write incredible stories and he can write terrible stories with good ideas. this happened to be an incredible story. i could be biased because i LOVE summer camp horror stuff but i was intrigued the entire time. The plot twist was so interesting. I still have a slight problem with the way he write women sometimes but i did enjoy this book.

I had no idea that this book would sensationalise mental illness for tension and drama before going into it. I have finished it, but for that reason I won’t be rating it.

I shouldn’t have read this. I only did because I still owned it, despite deciding I’ve given up on Riley Sager after Home Before Dark.
