This was really interesting. I love a history book about a specific topic and this was really well put together. Each chapter covers a different topic and it was really easy to read. Lister's writing was witty and engaging and I liked the way she related historical attitudes to modern society.

I really enjoyed this curious history of sex and learned many things I didn’t know. There are times when the author’s humor works very well (I laughed aloud multiple times in the pubic hair chapter and found it to be super well researched at the same time) and times when it didn’t quite land with me (but then I am not British so maybe I just didn’t get it). I honestly wished for more depth much of the time (especially regarding sex work and virginity throughout history). Each chapter felt short! But that made it a fast, almost light read. I do recommend it.
Note for those who read in public—there are (usually Victorina) pornographic images in this book.
