Review based on what I remember back in 2022
I do remember loving both the MC and the love interest, they felt fleshed out and well-established. I believed their little rivalry though they were never real enemies, just two people who grew up with each other who were at first annoyed with each other and then learned to love each other despite what they may have previously thought. I think the romance is sweet but doesn't take over the entire plot. This was a Cinderella retelling that did a good job of actually twisting the story into something new. I liked the cursed aspect and the bits of lull where we got to explore what the MC could do with her magic. I really liked this book and need a reread as well as read the other books in the series.

Great read!

An fresh yet subtle take on Cinderella. I never get tired of the new idea people come up with for older stories. The main character, Blue, is a headstrong, intelligent and selfless young girl and I loved every moment I got to read about her. Do yourself a favor and read this book. I could barely put it down.

2 & 1/2 stars

Slow start for me, but picked up in the second half. It’s almost like a Spiderwick for adults.

The love story in this one was the sloooowest of slow burns. And. I. Loved. It.

Another great retelling by Redwine! I do really enjoy her books. Once again, I like the extra magic that she has in the world she’s created. I also like that all of the Ravenspire books are in the same world, just neighboring kingdoms.
Redwine did an excellent job of keeping the basic Cinderella plot, but changing enough aspects to make it her own story! That kept me engaged.

One thing that I didn’t understand was why the king was such good friends with a commoner? I like the result - Blue knows the royal family well, is friends with the princess and basically grew up with the prince - but it just doesn’t make sense.

I feel like this was more of like a 3.8, but my love for this series prevented me from giving this anything less than 4 stars :)
