I often tell my friends that I consider J.R.R. Tolkien to be the best author the world has ever seen. His ability to create, disseminate, and produce literature is almost unmatched in my opinion. His stories are so rich in detail, backstory, history, and language that they almost seem more like historical non-fiction than fiction. The Lord of the Rings is the pinnacle of his creation. It is masterfully written - a true literary masterpiece.
