Absolute classic that works on several levels, and the book that introduced me, in the third grade, to the concept of metaphors.

This was a cute book. It was short and simple, and I can see why it's a classic. The characters were good, the plot was adorable and predictable, and the writing style was easy to follow.

I tried to read this a few times as a kid but could never get past how much the White Witch scared me. I'm really glad I got to read it once I got older, though, because it's a really fun, cute, lighthearted read, if a little shallow and very heavy on the Jesus metaphors. I really liked the ending, too, and it made me want to read the others!! I'd recommend this to any kid or really any person who is looking for something light and whimsical to read.

I’ll be the first to admit that my disinterest upon finishing this book is likely colored by my love of the movie (which does many things better than the book). I also dislike Lewis’s treatment of women. The actual world of Narnia is a fascinating sandbox and I wish it had been explored more in the book. I felt as though we were running past things that I wanted to stop and examine.
