I read this as a kid when I was Christian, and I decided to read it again as a mostly atheistic adult. I still love this book, this world, and these characters. Out of others in the trope, I would pick Narnia over Oz or Wonderland any day.

An entertaining read overall, a bit slower paced than expected. There are some parts that are problematic, but they can be equated with period-typical sexism and the need for YA books to have teenagers fight other people's wars.
