I really enjoy John Green's novels, however, this one was only just okay. I think because I struggle with an Anxiety disorder myself, I couldn't fully engage with this novel. I did like the accurate representation of the struggle with a mental illness, though I also felt like there were way too many moments where I wanted to shake the protagonist and say, "TAKE THE HELP OFFERED TO YOU!!!! YOU HAVE SO MUCH HELP!!!!!" Again, this is a personal issue for me, and has no bearing objectively on how the book is. I did appreciate the quotes and how Mr. Green views modern adolescents as being smart and well read. I just didn't connect as much as I would have liked to.

John Green is hit or miss for me, but this was more of a hit then not. Are some characters still offensively witty and verbose unlike anyone ever is let alone an 18 year old? Yeah, it's John Green. Are they all better read and quote literature repeatedly? Yeah, it's John Green. But at least this time the main character is likable and relatable, there's no torture porn to be found, and only one character is just a little too full of whimsy.

Can’t decide between a three or a four star review. I was impressed with how Green wrote about mental illness. And portraying OCD in a very real and somewhat scary disorder. I felt the plot itself could have been a bit more... something. It was just lacking. And the ending felt rushed. With that said, I really did enjoy the book. I was just hoping the plot would go a bit deeper.

I barely started it but I think I was just struggling to get into any book at that point. I might try it again! Nothing wrong with the book, just the reader 🤣

I know my opinion is not a popular one, but I found myself being very bored over this book and don't even get me started on the ending. It felt like the entire books was building up to a happy ending between our characters who really do love each other and I can feel that.
However, to build all that love interest and just have it be "meh" in the ending was a let down and very disappointing to say the least. As much of a fan of John Greens other work that I am, this book was just not successful in grabbing my attention and giving me "feels". Maybe I'll give it another chance, but not anytime soon.
