How the hell are these mysteries so tightly plotted? The resolution was simply impressive.

Half a star docked for a bit of a slow start and Hercule Poirot being a cagey prick who won’t tell us anything until the end. But he’s entirely too entertaining so that makes up for most of it. And it was admittedly hilarious to be in Hastings’ highly dramatic head.

The audiobook by Hugh Fraser was excellent!

Enjoyable read, but I found the narrator kind of (very) annoying. The characterization of Poirot is endearing and carries most of the story, as the remaining characters are pretty lackluster. The plot is incredibly clever and grows progressively more complex as the story unfolds, but lacks the satisfaction expected of a final reveal, especially given the sheer number of red herrings up until that fateful moment. Ultimately, not as strong as some of her other works, but still engaging and humorous throughout.
