I really loved this book, I loved the adventure and I loved all 13 of the dwarves. Although the characters weren't very built and all kind of blended together, I did enjoy them all the same and I found myself relating to Bilbo in multiple instances. I think the story and the world-building was very well-done and the only thing i found myself wishing for was more character development and
more greif over the death at the end. although Thorin's death did make me sad, it didn't impact me as much as I wished it would. I saw these movies in theatres when they first came out and the death of Thorin, Fili, and Kili still makes me cry because they were a lot more dramatic in the film than it was in the book and i just found myself wishing i felt closer to the characters

I’m so happy to finally read this. I feel like it came at the right time as well. A perfect way to start the new year.

The first time I read The Hobbit, I hated it immensely. I could not get through it and had to force myself to finish. Yet something changed this time.

I enjoyed reading this story so much more this time around. The plot was fascinating, I enjoyed the writing and it just felt like such a cozy little story. I really enjoyed the adventure and had a fun time.

I can't give this a perfect rating because there were times that I was a bit bored, and I think that it is a bit lacking (with its complete absence of any female characters). Though I liked a lot of the characters, another complaint is that I just didn't feel that connected to any of them on a more personal 'deep' level, like I do with some of Sanderson's characters.

Overall though, I would highly recommend this story, especially to pre-teens / children, although many adults will probably greatly enjoy this too.

It would have been 7/10 but constant jokes about Bamdur being fat are annoying. Overall I loved the plot. Especially the part about greed and prejudice.
