This book will always hold the most special place in my heart. My dad read it to my brother and I when we were young, before the movies came out even. When we heard LOTR was going to be a movie we were so excited to see the stories my dad had read to us brought to the big screen. My dad is a fantastic story teller and used many voices to keep our young minds engaged while listening to the story every night. It’s a memory I will forever cherish. I’m so happy to have read it again and I hope to one day read it to my children as well. Tolkien truly immerses you in the world that he created, and the stories are beautiful. I will always recommend.

Cute story but for kids so it wasn't as engaging as I had hoped. Loved Tolkien's style though.
3 out of 5 stars.

J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit" is a timeless classic that transports readers into a magical realm filled with wonder, adventure, and camaraderie. This captivating tale takes us on a thrilling journey with Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit whose life takes an unexpected turn when he joins a band of dwarves on an epic quest to reclaim their homeland from the fearsome dragon, Smaug.

One of the book's greatest strengths lies in Tolkien's unparalleled storytelling and world-building. The vivid descriptions of Middle-Earth's enchanting landscapes, diverse cultures, and mythic creatures immerse readers into an awe-inspiring universe. The journey through Mirkwood, the encounter with Gollum in the dark recesses of the Misty Mountains, and the epic Battle of the Five Armies are just a few examples of the richly crafted adventures that leave a lasting impact.

The character development is another highlight of "The Hobbit." Bilbo's transformation from a reluctant adventurer into a brave and resourceful hero is heartwarming and inspiring. The camaraderie among the dwarves and their interactions with Bilbo create a delightful mix of humor, warmth, and genuine friendship that tugs at the heartstrings.

Tolkien's prose is beautifully crafted, capturing the essence of an oral tradition and making the book a joy to read. His command over language and mastery in weaving together intricate narratives captivates the imagination, leaving readers enthralled from beginning to end. However, while "The Hobbit" is a masterpiece in its own right, a minor drawback is the occasional slow pacing during certain parts of the journey. Some chapters could have benefited from more concise storytelling, ensuring a more seamless flow throughout the book.

In conclusion, "The Hobbit" is a literary gem that transports readers on an unforgettable adventure through Middle-Earth. Tolkien's enchanting storytelling, richly developed characters, and awe-inspiring world-building make this book a must-read for fantasy enthusiasts of all ages. While the occasional pacing issue prevents it from achieving a perfect rating, the magic and charm of Tolkien's creation earn it a well-deserved four stars.

A classic; less serious and more child-friendly than LotR, but a fast and fun read

La forma que le tiene Tolkien de contar esta historia me recuerda a un narrador de una película infantil, al ambiente educado de una historia de época. Precioso y con la duración justa. Aplícate el cuento señor Jackson.
