I thought this read was really cute. Still your typical holiday Hallmark romance. Big city woman and local small-town guy, but this felt more realistic at times.  I appreciated that everything in the story wasn't sunshine and rainbows. There was plenty of tragedy in the town and realistic things happening to the people.

I really enjoyed Lana's character and I was honestly hoping for a little bit more of a realistic ending. I think Rick had the right idea with them being two different people - we were so close & yet so far. Overall I found it a really quaint holiday read & appreciated that even though it's technically a series you didn't need to read the others to follow along. The author did a great job of catching you up on some characters in the beginning.

This book brought out my sappy side. It was mushy-sweet and I loved (almost) every second of it!

Lana was definitely not my favorite character in the first book. I touched on this some in my first review, but I think my distaste was due to the way the narrator, well, narrated her. I was under the impression that she was mostly shallow, uppity, and generally just an annoying rich girl. But, I was wrong! This book showed me that in just the first few pages.

Despite her wealth and power, Lana definitely struggles with the choice between who she was born to be and who she actually wants to be. She has a heart of gold, but the family "empire" she's been raised in really doesn't allow her to use it the way she so desperately desires - even when she tries to go out on a limb to do it anyways. On top of that, the town of Moose Springs pretty much loathes her (aside from Rick, obviously, and Zoey - who isn't a native, but her best friend). Even Graham, who I had hoped would maybe see the light in this book, is still prejudiced against "tourists" or literally anyone not native to the town. That still gets on my nerves. But anyway, back to the struggles at hand: Lana "owns" the town, doesn't belong there or anywhere, and wants to do more with her money than her family always has.

Enter Rick. He's held a torch for Lana for a while now and secretly, the feelings are mutual. Despite the way everyone surrounding him feels about the woman, he makes his move, and gosh darnit, they're adorable together. Sure, there are the typical miscommunication issues, the fact that she has to travel for a living so it would just be a "holiday fling," etc., but the romance aspect for this book was precious. I loved their chemistry and the hilarious moments they spent together (like the tranq dart and the uncomfortable bed and breakfast).

There was also a lot more depth to this book than the first, what with everything that happens to Killian. I found myself even getting a little misty-eyed a few times, which was unexpected.

This is a case of the sequel being better than the initial book in the series, which is a rare occurrence to me! I am only feeling extra excitement to begin the next book (especially knowing that it's about one of my favorite characters: Easton).

Mistletoe & Mr. Right by Sarah Morgenthaler

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Isn’t it better to have one or two of the right ones instead of a hundred wrong ones?”

This book is adorable and super cozy! The characters are well-written and I can completely picture Moose Springs. I love Lana and Rick so much. Rick could honestly be my dream guy. I need him in real life! I also really appreciated Lana in this book. She was a strong businesswoman who was determined to see her project through and capture the Santa Moose even when no one else seemed to believe in her. Lana cares deeply about people and I think that her and Rick are a perfect match. Okay now onto the tropes. The holiday season is meant for romantic comedies and tropes…let me tell you…Mistletoe & Mr. Right is full of them. We’re talking only one bed, forced proximity, friends to lovers, ALL OF IT! There were moments that literally made me laugh out loud!! This was a super cute read and it was perfect to kick off cozy rom-com season. I am super excited to read the third book in the series! To everyone complaining about this book being a Hallmark movie…please stop. We know it’s a Hallmark movie and that’s why we read it😂

If you love cheesy holiday romance, then this is for you!

First of all, I just am a sucker for this series, ok?!? I love the light, silly, fun writing and the plot elements are ridiculously adorable. The romances make me smile and swoon. However, my darling Caitlin had some v v v astute criticisms of the first book, and I think it opened my eyes to some of the issues in this one. I did not vibe with Lana at all in the first book, and while I liked her A LOT more in this one, I felt like it was a little bit of a jarring about face for her character. Rick though? I love me some Rick. And Rick's love for Lana made me like her more. There were some problems I could not overlook though, like fatphobia and healthism, as well as framing a female ex as crazy. Do not enjoy, no ma'am. Also stop with the word slender. Do you KNOW any other adjectives???????
