Firstly, a huge thank you to Ariella for giving me the opportunity to be an ARC reader for A Secret Shared with Sirens in exchange for an honest review.
Aghhhh, where to start?!! I loved it! A Secret Shared with Sirens is absolutely fantastic - I devoured the entire book in about 3 days. It takes place immediately after the events of A Secret Shared with Death and we’re back with Isolde following her capture by the Father of Sirens, Achelous.
Isolde is still on her path for revenge against Silas for the massacre of her village and trying to secure alliances with Caspain and the Fae to enable her to protect Arramore. Meanwhile, Malek/Death wants to protect Isolde from the growing hold the darkness has over her and stop War on the continent.
Everything steps up a notch and I’m here for it. The Gods are choosing sides, more secrets threaten to come to the surface which affect the potential for new alliances…or enemies, and Isolde has her own internal battle to contend with as the darkness continues to whisper in her ear, promising her power and retribution…
Isolde needs to keep her wits about her as she navigates the court politics and attempts to win alliances to achieve her goal. She’s already shown she’ll do what it takes to survive, but in a world where men hold the power, is she manipulating them or is she merely a pawn in their endless games?
I loved the further exploration of patriarchal oppression in this book and how Isolde tries to manage in a world, much like ours, that is not made for women. I really identify with Isolde and I love her as the FMC and protagonist. My heart broke at times with her:
“I took a deep breath, steeling my nerves. Trying to swallow down the rising sense of panic. By the time these males were done with me, would there even be any of me left?”
ASSWS has me on the edge of my seat throughout. I adore the characters, the plot, the politics, the magic…I don’t know how I’m going to manage to wait until 2026 for the conclusion of Isolde’s story!
A Secret Shared with Sirens is released in January 2025!
